GHO inspections signal new era of quality control Great Hotels Organisation (GHO) is introducing a new quality inspection procedure for all its members, as part of its continuing commitment to promoting and protecting the integrity of its key brands.
As membership of both Great Hotels of the World and Special Hotels of the World increases significantly, the organisation intends to reinforce the distinctions between its brands more clearly, among the travel trade and consumers.
“Membership of Great Hotels of the World will act as a guarantee of genuine five-star excellence in the marketplace, while Special Hotels of the World will represent high-standard properties that are offering a unique feature,” said Deputy Managing Director Richard Barnes.
New hotel members joining the alliance will be required to undergo a detailed inspection – covering the property, its facilities and level of service – by one of GHO’s trained panel of luxury hotel experts.
Members will be tested on an ongoing basis to ensure they are consistently meeting GHO’s quality control criteria. “I believe this new procedure will be welcomed by our members because it involves the provision of a detailed report, which will provide them with a very accurate indication of how they compare to their competitors on a national and international basis,” said Barnes. “This is broken down into specific elements of the hotelier’s operation, highlighting features of excellence and areas that require improvement, as well as providing a benchmark for the future.”
Following the inspection and report stages, accepted members are provided with an accreditation certificate. A follow-up consultation service is available, while members that wish to evaluate the quality of their hotel offering can request an inspection at any time.
