GHO launches Electronic Distribution Training
These days electronic distribution forms a core part of any hotel’s business, and understanding distribution channels is of key importance for maximising revenue. GHO is committed to ensuring hotels understand how to increase revenue from these channels, and with that in mind has launched Electronic Distribution Training Courses on the Global Distribution System (GDS). The first course took place in London on May 26, and due to high demand additional training courses were held between June 6-16. Courses were also held at Palacio Estoril in Portugal and Astir Palace in Greece. By the end of the course attendees had gained the following knowledge:
- Understanding of how inventory and rates are distributed through the internet and GDS.
- Knowledge of rate strategy and how to put the new acquired skills into practice.
- Understanding of HotelFactory (GHO’s Central Reservations System) as a strategic tool, managing rates, room inventory, reports and property information.
- Understanding consortia programmes, how to bid via the Request for Proposal tool (Lanyon), and how to capitalise on their ability to penetrate key global markets.
- Understanding how sales and marketing can work in conjunction with electronic distribution.
- Further courses will be held in Florence, Amsterdam and London later this year.
